How do most of you kite as well as what do you use the most of heal or protect?
How do most of you kite as well what do you use the most of heal or protect?I made this 1 topic instead of 2.What I am asking is when you kite do you do you stop and hit spell or stop casting casting spells altogther? This is mostly in how you do it in pve but some pvp strategies would be ok.
What do you you use the most on your bar healing or protection as well on others.I am mostly 60/40 heal/protect.

I use more prot than heals normally and stop kiting to cast a skill and then continue the kiting.

Run around in your shield set, look cool, and switch to your staff set to spam AoS and RoF to make it look like you know what you're doing.

And depending on how bad your connection is, it might be better to kite with mouse walk to decrease the rubber-banding/bodyblocking-chances.

i usually wasd to move and qe to dodge projectiles if im in the open. as for my bar.. well that just depends. in pvp i hybrid a lot though. my weapon sets are also dependent on my bar, and how i switch them. generally i like to stay on a mid set with a shield, switching mostly my casting hand for certain spells. i 40/40 on important stuff, but if im goofing, i just shield.

Weave through enemies and party members so whoever is following you gets stuck, when kiting anything with a scythe walk backwards to avoid getting criticals on you, and don't ever stop casting spells, are you serious?

Getting hit by melee in the back while moving is considered "fleeing," and always results in a critical hit.
@Magikarp: From the article you quoted:
Quote:
If you strike an opponent from behind with a melee weapon as they are moving, you will always score a critical hit.

Kiting (PvP):
Kite using your mouse. A lot of people use keys, it's not as good (works fine for general movement though of course). When wasd'ing you have to turn and arc, which makes your kiting less effective. Using the mouse to move, you can rapidly change direction to kite laterally (perpendicular to battle lines) or in whatever direction that makes it harder for you to be hit. Changing direction more precisely can also keep whoever is chasing you from critting constantly on your back. Running straight/arced won't help much against anything with speed boosts.
Keep zoomed out all the way as well, so you can see opponents moving towards you and thus mouseclick the appropriate direction pre-emptively.
As for casting spells, it depends on your character. I'll answer for monks first. The monk's role is to prevent damage to the party. If you kite a melee character, you effectively reduce that player's damage to 0, which makes you accomplish your job completely. It's because of this that monks aren't always the priority target. If it becomes a requirement that you cast (whole team under pressure, etc), then you stop and cast. Make sure when you do, when kiting a warrior, that you pause before moving again so you don't get hit with a pre-emptive bull's strike. Alternatively, call for a quick small prot from the other monk.
Midline is different: their job is to actively disrupt and pressure the opposing team, as well as support your team's offense and defense. When you are kiting, you can't get your job done, and that's a form of shutdown. In that case, maximize spell efficiency: stop and cast when needed, call for prots or shutdown on the enemy chasing you.
In PvE you can apply most of the same stuff. Try kiting through other teammates to bodyblock chasing enemies briefly. Don't stop to cast and tank monsters with skills that knock down or do critical damage without some sort of prot. Damage minimization is the monk's role, and by kiting you're getting that done.
Bar:
Depends a lot. Generally, prot is more powerful, because of the efficiency of spells. It depends on your bar overall though - you can run one near-full heal and one near-full prot, or two slightly more hybridized. I don't think any monk should be absolutely without the other (except maybe some HB monk builds), just because things like prot spirit are easy to fit on heal-heavy bars and GoH is great on prot bars. You can easily get both stats up, so find which skills fulfill each role the best.

In pve I rarely kite (play with 7 bots). Having some hero or myself tanking with prot+nuking balls with zhed > getting low armor hench hit. When not casting 3s cast spells, hench always kite like mad. Which makes them collect a lot of crits vs the mobs who jog around as if they were Usain Bolt. Generally use a bar that is 80% prot, 1 healing spell (woh), and some utility.
In pvp kiting is quite necessary though, every time a melee character wants to hit you, you're best of preventing that. I use wasd+qe for general movement and kiting forward, mouse when having to kite backwards/sideways. As heal monk you're best off with a hybrid bar, as prot you don't need healing prayers.

That is how I kite with my monk too. I walk backwards through my party members and changing directions using the mouse.
